TUTORIAL– tessere i fili sul rovescio mentre si lavora

Seguendo le raccomandazioni di zia Elizabeth si dovrebbe sempre evitare di trascinare per più di 5–6 maglie il filo colorato nella lavorazione fair-isle. Così lavorando allo sprone del maglione HP’scar ho provato a tessere i fili colorati dimezzando la distanza tra le maglie quando questa era eccessiva.  

WEAVING CONTRASTING COLOR AS YOU GO : when carrying CC yarn for more then 5 sts you may find helpful to weave it in while working MC so to avoid long strands on wrong side.

• MC: main color – CP colore principale
• CC: contrasting color – colore contrastante
• RH: right hand – MD mano destra
• LH: left hand – MS mano sinistra

STEP 1: Il CP nella MD sta sopra, e il CC nella MS sta sotto il CP. Entrare con la punta del ferro nella m per lavorarla a dir, mettere il CC sulla punta del ferro sinistro.

With MC in your RH running over CC, and CC in your LH running under MC, enter into next st as if to knit. Put CC yarn onto RH needle end.

 

STEP 2: con il CP lavorare la m a dir senza prendere il filo di CC nel punto. Lasciar cadere la m lavorata ed il CC dal ferro sinistro.

With MC make a loop around your RH needle as if to knit and draw the loop through the st without catching the CC. Drop the st and the CC yarn from LH needle.

STEP 3: Lavorare la maglia successiva nel CP a diritto come al solito.

Knit next st in MC as usual.
 
 
 






 

STEP 4: tirare gentilmente il CC fino a nascondere il punto passato dietro quello lavorato.
Pull gently CC until the woven st gets hidden.
 
 







 

STEP 5: osservare il filo in CC tessuto tra le maglie del  CP al centro della foto, sopra il pollice. 
Notice CC yarn right above LH thumb in the centre of the picture, CC is securely woven in.








PS: non posso fare a meno di notare la data di oggi: 11/12/13.  I numeri belli ordinati mi saltano sempre all’occhio, sono fatta così!

HP’scar sweater–Yoke

Ecco la prima foto dello sprone. Il motivo è molto semplice e non regge il confronto con le fatiche di un tempo, però dà soddisfazione immediata ed è molto divertente veder crescere in fretta il maglione.  Ad un occhio esperto non sfuggiranno i punti colorati rivolti al contrario… non vorrei che zia Elizabeth si rivoltasse nella tomba!

This is the yoke first picture. the fair-isle pattern is elementary if compared to my past performances, however it’s pure knitting fun and instant gratification. To an expert eye colored stitches will immediately appear upside down… do you think my guru Elizabeth would have minded about it?

Come Hermione Granger

In principio l’idea di replicare il maglione di Hermione Granger per Sabrina ci era sembrata accattivante, ma qualcuno su Ravelry l’aveva già fatto egregiamente. In fin dei conti non sarebbe stato poi un capo così speciale, solo un bel maglione.

Abbiamo iniziato a fantasticare su un progetto originale, che avesse un riferimento preciso alla saga, pensando prima al simbolo dei doni della morte, e arrivando dopo qualche tentativo alla cicatrice di Harry. Il filato era già in casa, avanzato dei progetti fatti per l’ultimo libriccino di Cuore di Maglia.  La creatività aveva trovato i confini entro cui svilupparsi, e questa per me era già una buona premessa.

Dopo il simbolo e i colori bisognava pensare alla forma. Avremmo comunque avuto uno sprone decorato con una lavorazione fair-isle come il maglione che ci aveva ispirato. Per studiarne le proporzioni ho fatto appello alla zia Elizabeth e al suo seamless yoke sweater ma con una interpretazione personale: avrei lavorato dal collo in giù come piace a me.

Ecco i primi scarabocchi…intanto il maglione è già sui ferri!

Since long my elder daughter and I had cherished the idea to replicate the beautiful sweater worn by Hermione Granger in the last episode of the HP saga. We searched Ravelry and found out that someone else had already done it with success, so we decided to venture in an unknown field and make one for ourselves.

We focused on the idea to insert the deathly hollows symbol, but at last we decided to work on the HP scar. As for the yarn I would have worked some great yak-merino left from our latest Cuore di Maglia emagazine. Having found exact boundaries to my creativity was already a good start for me!

Then for the shape of the sweater I referred to my knitting guru Elizabeth, and decided to follow her seamless yoke sweater proportions with my own modification: I would have knitted the sweater top-down of course!

In the picture my very first scribbles, in the meanwhile I’ve already cast on for the yoke!

Garter stitch grooving

Ecco l’inizio di un bellissimo scialle (1). Sotto le istruzioni, da seguire riga per riga, depennando via via che si procede. 

E’ stata un’esperienza importante che mi ha fatto riflettere molto, e mi condotta sul sentiero luminoso del legaccio (2)(3)(4)(5).

Ora sono felice ed in pace con me stessa! Il problema è riuscire a venirne fuori…

Squame

Eccomi alla fine, tanto indietro che anche le foto arrivano in ritardo. Lei mi ha fatto mangiare le polvere, ha lavorato il doppio della mia lunghezza finendo prima di me!

Però è stato divertente e alla fine eccole qua le nostre creature squamose ...  trovate qui la sua Nessie, la mia è corta corta ma basta ad avvolgere il collo. Ringrazio ancora Emma che mi ha regalato questa magnifica matassa, 100 grammi utilizzati fino all’ultimo centimetro!

I did surrender and I have to confess she won the competition since she worked twice my lenght of yarn in almost the same time. Her spiky Nessie is here, while my dragon is long enough to be a neckwarmer. Thanks again to my friend Emma, I used up the skein she gave me to the very last centimeter!

3D Lace

Queste creste di drago sono un po’ impegnative da fare in tarda serata ma c’è una competizione semiseria tra me e la Sferruzzatrice. A fine giornata, anzi all’inizio della successiva, c’è il resoconto dei nostri progressi e non vorrei mai sfigurare, a proposito aggiorno il conteggio dei ferri…sono a 50! :))

There’s a half-serious competition running between me and Sferruzzatrice upon this 3D lace scarf. Every evening or better, early in the morning I update my night progresses. This morning I can  say I reached row 50. If you like these dragon spikes too, then drop by Olgajazzy.

Bersaglio

Il filato languiva già da un po’ di tempo nell’armadio, l’idea di farne un cardigan come questo per la piccola mi è sembrata azzeccata. Sto improvvisando una personale variazione sul tema perchè voglio che i due davanti si chiudano meglio e il dietro non sia troppo lungo. Vedremo…

This yarn was longing to be used and I was cherishing the idea to knit a cardigan for my girl just like this one. I’m improving some modifications because I want the fronts to join as much as possible, and the back not so long. Let’s see what happens….

Un raggio di sole

Fuori nevica, ma noi abbiamo un sole di maglia che ci riscalda!  Un bacio a Emma che mi ha ispirata per questo post….

On the needles

This is the first of my very long series of WIPs. Lutea lace-shoulder shell by Angela Hahn.
I'm using my only three skeins of Rosarios4's Biobamboo and fearing it couldn't be enough I decided to make a provisional cast on and knit from right below the armholes up. Now the first two skeins are all used up … and all my fears have vanished!
I altered the lace stitch pattern by using a double centered decrease instad of the two different methods suggested for the right and left shoulder.
This bamboo yarn is a dream to handle and to wear because is much smoother than silk.

The second, Ishbel by Isolda Teague, is a real "must have", so popular among ravelers that I had to try it. I'm knitting the large version and I think that it will grow even larger because I'm going to cast off only when I'll run short of yarn ... and I still have 7 skeins in my stash!
The pattern is well written and this knit runs on the needles so I can't wait to see the final result! Yarn is a gift my friend Sabine sent me during SP11, and I think is perfect for this project.

The third is still in a very early stage and actually is waiting to take off, but I bet I'll have a lot of knitting fun with the Swallowtail lace shawl.

Last but not least I've got a lot of mini-projects in progress for Cuore di Maglia....

Un saluto speciale a Startare!

Stavolta ho dato la precedenza alla parte più difficile, non sto a ripetere le parole ed i links.
Ho tantissimi lavori in corso, forse non ne ho mai avuti così tanti.
Il top marrone è fatto con un filato strepitoso, bambù biologico, più liscio e morbido della seta, un vero piacere da lavorare e da indossare.Quando passo a lavorare lo scialle blu la differenza di morbidezza è abissale!
Lo scialle blu è un modello che ha spopolato su Ravelry e che lavorerò fino a portarlo alle dimensioni di una coperta (o quasi), perchè devo azzerare la scorta che ho di questo filato.
Ho appena iniziato uno scialle piccolo e intricato ed ho tanti piccoli lavoretti in corso per Cuore di Maglia. Prima o poi ne uscirò ...
