Dopo il nebbione di ieri stamattina salgo sul tetto senza grandi aspettative se non quella di trovare uno sfondo ed un po’ di luce per fotografare l’ultimo pezzo all’uncinetto appena finito. Ed ecco la meraviglia! Un saluto al sole speciale, un risveglio dello spirito e del corpo.

Yesterday it was so foggy that this morning, when I went up the roof to take pics of my latest crocheted shawl, I didn’t have high  expectations. And here is the wonder! A special greeting to the sun, to awaken the spirit and body.

Something dark

E pur si knitta! A dispetto dell’incostanza e della stanchezza. E il risultato, anche se tardivo e quasi fuori stagione, gratifica la mamma e premia l’adolescente di casa.

C’è voluto quasi un anno, ma oggi ho una nuova satisfecscion!
Dopo questa son finite le sorprese, non ci sono altri lavori in corso… Mi prenderò una pausa per preparare “cose e cose” per il Camp di Cuore di Maglia!

Con due gomitoli

Forse perchè l’ho vista stesa dalla febbre come non succedeva da tanto tempo, o perchè le ispirazioni nascono per caso, quando due gomitoli rotolano fuori dal cesto nel tentativo di mettere ordine. Il colore è perfetto, la treccia è tenerissima, la mamma si è divertita un sacco e lei è una vera topina!

I don’t know if it’s because I was struck se eing her so badly sick, or because inspiration comes out by chance, just like two balls of yarn rolling out of the basket in an attempt to bring order. However the colour is perfect, the cable is very young, I had a lot of fun and she's a so pretty!

Springfield

L’assonanza con il titolo precedente mi è venuta spontanea: Springtime – Springfield. Sembra fatta apposta ma è del tutto casuale, come si legge di solito nei titoli dei film!

Springfield è la mia ultima scoperta, un filato morbidissimo 50% cotone- 50% lana prodotto da Grignasco, perfetto per questo tepore primaverile.

Tepore? Fa già un caldo esagerato! Mi sono affrettata a concludere la giacchina che avevo promesso alla piccola: è l’ideale per andare a scuola al mattino presto, è già troppo pesante per il parco al pomeriggio….

Il modello è il bellissimo Radicchio di Giolana, adattato per tensione e misure alle mie esigenze.

 

Assonance with the previous title came to me spontaneously: Springtime - Springfield, it seems made on purpose but it happened by chance, as you always read in the movies titles!
Springfield is my latest discovery, a soft yarn blend  50% cotton -50% wool produced byGrignasco, perfect for early spring warmth.
Warmth? It’is already far too hot! I hurried to finish the jacket I had promised to my little girl. It’s perfect to go to school early in the morning, but too heavy for the park in the afternoon ....

Sarò buona e vi svelerò questa magia! Gli ingredienti sono semplici: il filo, i ferri, il modello giusto. Quando sarete pronte, e avrete lavorato e cucito tutti i pezzi, metterete la giacca in una federa gigante creata per l’occasione, preparerete la bacchetta magica e direte ….

Reduciòò ?!?

…con molta esitazione, penserete che forse un ciclo completo in lavatrice a 60°C con centrifuga potrebbe essere fatale al vostro lungo lavoro…  Invece no! Ci vuole decisione! Ce lo spiega la più brava della classe…

Redùcio !!!

…sbatterete la giacca a 90°C, ve la scorderete lì a centrifugare mentre state preparando il pranzo… e alla fine…Voilà!

PS: per la cronaca, la maghetta di casa ha poi fatto  l'intantesimo "Evanesco" sulla giacca.

Tutto va giù. L’arrabbiatura con la doppia zeta, come dice lei, e la mia immagine furibonda. Argomento chiuso.

Vado avanti, anzi torno indietro ad un bel lavoro iniziato nel febbraio scorso e finito a settembre quando ancora si scorrazzava liberi al parco. Non ve lo spiego punto per punto perchè l’ho improvvisato strada facendo. L’idea di partenza è stata questa, poi ho cercato una forma più comoda da indossare e mi sono impelagata in una geometria strana con bordi sbiechi e ferri accorciati… una roba un pò brenniana che forse vi divertirebbe o forse no.

Prendetela così com’è, così come sono io un giorno liscia e un’altro “gazzata”.

Lately I’m feeleng tired and I easily break up in anger. I’m not in a great mood to translate but today I’m going to forget everything. I’ll show you my version of the famous pinwheel sweater. I cast on in February and I finished it in September. I got stuck in a tricky way of shaping fronts with sloping edges and short rows…. perhaps you’ll find it crafty or maybe too alaborate, anyway it’s interesting to see!

Knitting is just like me, sometimes plain and sometimes not!

Ci sono anch’io, eccomi! Vi presento la mia versione dello scialle Azzu’s di Emma, i colori sono ancora più belli che in foto e, come promesso, sarà un regalo per la mia pallavolista. Ho seguito il tuo suggerimento Emma, ho provato ad improvvisare dei buchetti ma dopo una prima fase sperimentale mi sono attenuta alle tuo spiegazioni ed ho imparato moltissimo! Mi piace la semplicità, la forma svelta e sbarazzina dello scialle, l’esecuzione rapida che non richiede troppa attenzione, insomma sono già pronta al bis!

Dovrei bloccarlo per bene? Forse sì, si allungherebbe ancora un pò…

Ok, allora vado, lo stendo e poi torno! .... FATTO!

Here I am at last! This is my version of Azzu’s shawl by Emma. Its colors are even brighter than the picture and I’ll keep my promise giving it to my volleygirl. I followed your suggestions Emma, and I tried to improvise with Yo’s but at the end of a short experimental phase I diligently followed your instructions, and I learned a lot! I appreciated the simplicity of the pattern, the shape so cool and teen, and above all the fact it’s a mindless knitting running on the needles. In short, I’m read to cast on again!

Do you think I should block it? Maybe it will stretch a little longer….

I’m ready, just a minute to pin it and I’ll be back!....DONE!

100 grammi

No, almeno una novità qui c'è… finalmente si parla di un lavoro finito! A dire il vero era partito un mese fa con tutta un’altra forma, poi è stato sfilato e finalmente ha trovato la sua strada. E’ larga più o meno 50 cm, lunga suppergiù 150. Si tira, si allunga, si torce, si svolge come mi pare e piace. E’ trasparente ma fitta, caldissima intorno al collo o appena una velo sulle spalle. E’ nel mio colore preferito…ma purtroppo non è nata per me!

La ricetta:

• 100 grammi di alpaca baby
• ferri diritti e con belle punte n°5.5

Avviare morbidamente 60 maglie, lavorare tutti i ferri come segue: 1 dir, * 1 gett, 2 ins a rov*, 1 dir. Chiudere altrettanto morbidamente tutte le maglie lavorando a diritto. Avviluppatevi nella stola e godetevela!

Good news … a FO at last! It all started a month ago but I had another shape in my mind and it didn’t work. I ripped it and finally it went straight. It’s about 50 cm wide, more or less 150 cm in lenght. You can stretch it, wring it, wind it at your leisure. It’s both light and thick, hot around the neck and a feather on your shoulders. It’s in my favourite color … but unfortunately it’s not for me!

Recipe:

• 2 ply baby alpaca, 100 grams
• straight and sharp pointed needles n° 5.5 mm/ US#9

Loosely CO 60 sts. Work all rows as follows: k1, *yo, p2tog*, k1. Loosely BO all sts by knitting . Wrap yourself up and enjoy!

A 100 all’ora

Forse il clima olimpico, oppure la necessità di gratificazione immediata, sto scoprendo la velocità dell’uncinetto. Ho poco tempo per tutto ma … non ci crederete … mi sono cronometrata … si lo so! Sono la solita esagerata, ma vado a 100 all’ora. Centro metri di filo all’ora. E’ il mio personal best! Vi sfido, se avete coraggio! Ora se volete competere sullo stesso terreno mi trovate alle prese con questo modello di Milobo.

 

Maybe because of the olympic atmosphere, or because I need as usual  instant gratification, I’m enjoying the speed of crochet. I’m always chasing after time  but … believe me … I took my time … top speed was 100 per hour. I now I am nut, but I mean a hundred meters yarn per hour. It’s my personal best! Texture

Non so tradurre bene questo termine, ma posso illustrarlo molto meglio! Ho finito lo "Shalom Cardigan" usando una matassa senza nome acqiustata da Sesia. Per la sua elasticità e setosità il filato è sicuramente una magnifica lana merino. Il colore senape sfumato accentua l'effetto del punto a coste ritorte dello sprone, e la texture è magnifica!

There's no better way to explain the word than these pictures! I've just ended my "Shalom Cardigan" using an unknownd skein of yarn I bought from Sesia outlet. Judging from elasticity and silky look it must be a beatiful pure merino wool. The semi-solid shade of mustard inhances the effect of twisted ribbing and gives to this knit a wonderful texture!

Prendete il Quaderno degli Schemi a pagina 27 - sciarpa "Ariel"

Scegliete il gomitolone variegato all'amarena e quello rosa più chiaro, lasciate perdere il marrone!

Iniziate la sciarpa con il variegato all'amarena e lavorate per 50 cm di lunghezza.

Unite il colore chiaro e alternate due righe di rosa scuro e due di rosa chiaro per altri 50 cm

A questo punto il rosa scuro sarà finito del tutto.

Proseguite con il rosa chiaro fino alla fine del gomitolo e di conseguenza della sciarpa.

Indossatela subito, sentirete un tepore quasi primaverile!

Little recipe

open your Quaderno degli Schemi , page 27 - Ariel scarf

Take that big balls of yarn in deep cherry and pale rose, forget the brown!

Cast on for the scarf in deep cherry and work for 50 cm, then add the pale rose and keep on working alternating two rows of each colour, until the first ball of yarn is finished.

Continue in pale rose until yarn is over and scarf too.

Wear it at once and feel the warmth of spring!

Forse non lo metterò domani in ufficio o per andare a fare la spesa però l’idea di potermi alzare al mattino, vestirmi da Esmeralda, e andare in giro per la città danzando con il tamburello mi affascina moltissimo e mi mette di ottimo umore!

Maybe it isn’t so comfortable as office-wear or to go shopping but the idea that I can get up in the morning, dressed like Esmeralda, and go around town dancing with the tambourine fascinates me a lot, and puts me in a good mood!

Quanto tempo c'è voluto non lo so, quanti ripensamenti nemmeno! Ero partita con un bel progettino ambizioso, questo delirio di intrecci Aran, ma non me la sono sentita di arrivare neanche a finire la prima ripetizione del motivo!

Nel mentre avevo attaccato a leggere una serie di libri che non si scollavano dalle mani ... così molto lentamente sono arrivata all'ultima pagina e all'ultimo ferro! Il filato è un tweed di New Lanark leggero e caldissimo; tutto il maglione pesa solo 450g. Lo schema divertente e originale è della mitica Norah Gaughan.

Ripensando agli ultimi titoli .. avara ... lenta ... mi sento in vena di complimenti!

God knows how long did it take do finish this work, and how many afterthoughts! I did cast on for an ambitious little project, this extremely difficult Aran sweater, but I gave it up before finishing the first repeat of the pattern for the back. In the meantime I stuck to read a series of books that did not leave the hands ... so very slowly I came to the last page and the last row!

I bought this tweed a very long time ago from New Lanark, the yarn is light and warm, and the whole sweater weighs just 450g. The pattern created by my knitting-guru Norah Gaughan is awesome!

Thinking back to the latest titles.. stingy ... sluggish... I'm in the mood for compliments!

Autodeterminazione

Non riesco ad abituarmici, ogni volta mi meraviglio e mi soffermo incantata ad analizzarli. Mi sembra di conoscerli, sono esseri strani, immobili, quasi eterni. Ognuno di loro, come un’espressione d’arte viva, unica ed irripetibile, mi trasmette emozioni, mi parla. Gli giro intorno, li osservo da un’altra angolazione e li scopro ancora diversi. Hanno una personalità propria, non c’è altra spiegazione! Mi raccontano di tutte le stagioni passate, di quanto sole e quanto vento li abbiano plasmati, piegati, spezzati e mi dicono che nonostante tutto sono diventati proprio quello che desideravano essere!

I still can’t get used to it, every time I can’t keep myself from staring at them and feeling enchanted. I feel as if I knew them. They are a weird kind of living-beings, motionless and almost eternal.
Each of them, like a kind of unique unrepeateable expression of art, touches my soul and talks to me. I circle around and from each point of view I find them different. They have their own personality for sure, and there’s no other explanation than this! They tell me about the seasons they have seen, how much sun and wind have moulded, bent, and broken them, and they assure me that in spite of all this they are now what they did choose to be!

E la sciarpa? Anche lei nel suo piccolo si è autoderminata ad essere secondo i suoi desideri ed i suoi colori. Neanche a dirlo mi ha chiesto di restare in Puglia e così l’ho affidata alla mia amica Ginetta.

What about the scarf? It’s a little example of self-determination of its own because it came out following its desires and colors. I don’t need to tell you that it asked me to stay in Puglia forever, so I thought of my dear friend Ginetta to look after it!

Morticia

Ormai per me è così e probabilmente ve l’ho già detto altre volte. Prima, molto prima, viene il filato, poi a tempo debito la sua forma. Capita così che passi anche un anno e mezzo o due prima che mi decida ad usare quel filo e quel colore che mi hanno fatto girare la testa.
E’ finalmente arrivato il turno della Aade Long nero-viola diventata oggi un Damson degno della fatale Morticia.
Sono particolarmente soddisfatta della morbidezza che lo scialle ha acquistato lavorando questo filato notoriamente un po’ grezzo con i ferri n°6. Le larghe fasce di colore sono un po’ mosse dal motivo a grossi petali del bordo, mentre l’ultima striscia in grigio chiaro evidenzia la chiusura ad archetti.

L’occasione per sfoggiarlo c’è già!

I know it goes like this and probably I've already said it before. Earlier, much earlier, is the yarn, then, in due course, its shape. It often passes even more than a year and a half or two before I decide to use the thread and color that drove me crazy.This time it was the turn of my beautiful black-purple and grey Aade Long, which now has been turned into a fatal Damson worthy of Morticia.

I used a very loose gauge and I am particularly pleased with the smoothness of this shawl in spite of the rawness of the yarn. The pattern features big petals along the edge and this adds some movement to the broad bands of color, while the last strip in light gray marks the edging arches.

I have a wonderful opportunity to show it off!

26-06-2009 Post Scriptum: mi avete davvero gratificata molto con i vostri commenti, e mi spiace ancor di più il non aver scritto niente di niente! Il modello è davvero semplice, è un tubo con due aperture un pò sagomate. Non ci si aspetterebbe di vederlo così bello una volta indossato. Ho dovuto adattare le istruzioni ad un filato molto più sottile di quello usato nelle istruzioni. Ho aggiunto anche un bordino a maglia rasata rovescia intorno alle aperture perchè non mi piaceva l'aspetto poco rifinito che avevano e temevo si allentassero.

Adesso sono sicura che sarò io a smollarmi per prima!!


I was very gratified by your general appreciation and I'm really sorry that I didn't write anything about this knit! The design is very simple, it's a tube with two slightly shaped openings and unexpectedly it turns out so beautiful when worn. I had to adapt instructions to a very thinner yarn than the one suggested. I also added a small edging in reverse stockinette stitch around armholes because they looked quite unfinished, and I feared they could loosen with time.
Now I'm sure I'll loosen myself much sooner!!

Zig-zag Vortex II

Ve l'avevo detto .... un delirio di zig-zag!
Dopo la sciarpa Alhambra credevo di aver capito come fare lo slalom sui ferri sia a diritto che a rovescio. Pensavo non mi servirà comprare ancora un modello per zig-zagare tra i buchi ...
Mi sono dedicata per due sere a provare, sfilare, rifare, a tempestare un foglio a quadretti di cerchi e crocette da fare un baffo anche al Sudoku Samurai .... alla fine mi sono arresa!
Ho chiesto a lei come si fa!

I told you .... I'm in a zig-zag vortex!
Having knitted the Alhambra scarf I thought I knew how to do the slalom through knits and purls. I won't need to purchase another pattern to do a zig-zag with holes... I thought.
I did engage for two nights in a try, I swatched, frogged, started again, I filled a checked sheet with a zillion circles and crosses to make a mockery of Samurai Sudoku .... in the end I surrendered! I asked her how to do it!

Il mio secondo lavoro con la lana estone Kauni-Aade Lõng è finito da un pezzo! La neve ormai si è sciolta quasi tutta ed io ho tanta voglia di sole e di primavera!
In queste prime foto la sciarpa Alhambra è tutta riccia, appena tolta dai ferri...è bella anche così!
My second project with the wonderful Kauni-Aade Lõng ended quite a long time ago! Snow has melt almost completely by now, and I'm longing for sun and springtime! In these pics my Alhambra scarf was only just cast off the needles, so beautiful and crispy!

Poi ci sono le foto "da vetrina", con la sciarpa lavata, bloccata e drappeggiata ad arte, ma stavolta è per me...finalmente! A metterla in vendita non ci penso proprio!

Mi piace tanto e devo dire che è meno ispida .... di una certa barbaccia!

L'unico effetto collaterale di questo lavoro è stata una pesante dipendenza da zig-zag, ma ormai è tardi, sono entrata in un tunnel!

Here are the pics for my showcase with the scarf washed, blocked, and properly draped, but this time it's mine. I won't put it for sale! I like it so much and I have to admit it's less bristly than ... a beard of my acquaintance!

This project had only one side-effect: a heavy zig-zag addiction. It's too late for me now, I fear I was caught by a vortex!
