Meravigliosa e fragile

Una cara amica gioisce per la sua prossima maternità, un'altra è lacerata da un grande dolore, e la vita, meravigliosa e fragile mi sembra un giro di giostra.

A dear friend of mine rejoices at her pregnancy, another is torn by the greatest grief, and life, so wonderful and fragile, looks like a round in a fair.

Life sweater

E' stato utile finire questo "maglione salvagente" prima dell'arrivo del caldo vero, in tempo per una gelida grigliata di primavera in montagna.
L'ingegnoso modello Sloane Pullover è frutto dell'abilità di Elizabeth. Ho imparato a lavorare in un solo pezzo davanti-dietro e maniche a giro, e la costruzione top-down dalle spalle in giù mi ha permesso di usare fino all'ultimo metro una lana sconosciuta che viveva in scatola da circa due anni. Pur avendo adattato il il modello ad una lana completamente diversa dall'originale, il risultato è stato molto soddisfacente.
Vi serve un indizio per scoprire che non mi è rimasto più di un metro di questo filato? Guardate il motivo a treccia che termina incastrato nel bordo a coste....

Before stable warmth arrives, right in time for an icy spring barbecue, it was very helpful to end up this "life sweater".

The pattern, both beautiful and clever, comes from the skilled Elizabeth and is called Sloane Pullover. The sweater, knitted from top down, allowed me to use, to the very last meter, an unknown yarn living since two years in a box. I learned to knit front-back-set in sleeves in one piece and although the yarn was completely different from the one used in the pattern, I am quite pleased with the result.

Do you need a clue to understand there's left no more yarn than a meter? Look at the cable panel, I had to embed it in the lower ribbing....

Una toppa a cuore … per firmare la copertina per Cuore di maglia®, per ricordarsi che gli atri sono le cavità superiori ed i ventricoli quelle inferiori e perché, anche se è un po’ complicata, ha il vantaggio è che è fatta in un pezzo solo …e poi Adry mi ha detto che le è riuscita!

Ricchezza

Oggi non succederebbe più, ma 40 anni fa dare il nome Cristiana ad una neoneta di un paesino lucano fece sorridere! Mi raccontano che si mormorò "chiameranno la prossima Democrazia?"

I miei scongiurarono il pericolo dedicandosi ad una serie di altri tre maschietti!

Stamattina ho pianto un pò, pensando a quanto mi manca la voce inconfondibile e commossa di papà che mi augura buon compleanno...chissà se mai inventeranno un cellulare stellare!

Poi siamo usciti di casa senza uno scopo preciso, un programma, quasi per caso arrivando al Lingotto...dove però già sapevano, tutte sapevano ed erano lì pronte con i fiori, i pensieri, i lavori fatti con il cuore...e io? felice ed incredula ho soffiato tra i bambini sulle candeline!

Chi è ricco non si chiede se sia giusto o no, oggi sono ricca e basta! Grazie a tutte le amiche che c'erano o che avrebbero voluto esserci, grazie!

(chi, loro complice, ha tramato nell'ombra avrà quel che si merita!)

Nowadays it couldn't happen any longer, 40 years ago in a small southern town to name a newborn girl Cristiana made people laugh! They tell me someone said "will they name Democrazia their next girl?" (Democrazia Cristiana then was the main political party).

My parents tried to avoid this risk devoting themselves to a series of other three boys!

This morning I cried a little because I miss my dad's unmistakable and deeply touched voice wishing me happy birthday...will anyone ever invent some kind of stellar cell phone?

We decided to go out without a destination, or even the urge to do anything, until we arrived almost by chance at Lingotto... there, all of them did know it, and they were ready with flowers and gifts, and heart-made knits .... what about me then? I simply blew out the candles like a child!

If you're rich you don't wonder if it's fair or not, today I am rich, and that's enough.

Thanks to all my friends, those who were there and those who would have been with us, thanks!

(As for their secret ally, he will get what he deserves!)

Non ho molto da dire, è un periodo un pò strano ... frenetico sotto certi aspetti e assolutamente calmo per altri versi. La cosa più incredibile è scoprire di botto, guardando questa foto che le stagioni si accumulano, le bimbe crescono, nuovi fiori nascono (sto pensando a Lorenzo) ... e anche io, che in fondo mi sento sempre uguale, probabilmente sto "maturando"!!!
(non sarà mica l'effetto del mio prossimo fatidico compleanno?)
Nothing special to say, it's a queer period ... somehow frantic from some points of view and absolutely still from others. The most incredible thing is to find out, all of a sudden, that seasons are piling up, the girls are growing, new flowers are blooming (I'm thinking of Lorenzo) ... and even if I feel always the same, I'm probably getting "mature"!!!!
(could it be the upcoming birthday side-effect?)
