E pur si knitta! A dispetto dell’incostanza e della stanchezza. E il risultato, anche se tardivo e quasi fuori stagione, gratifica la mamma e premia l’adolescente di casa.

Knitting is back! English texts maybe too, but I can’t  grant it for sure! I hope you’ll understand, haven’t you ever lost the right mood to do even these simple things? Today I’m really gratified because I ended a project that went on very slowly.

In the  beginning it was only a skein of wonderful hand dyed merino, a gift from my dear Emma.  It was hard to decide what it would be: a shawl seemed the natural choice but I wanted something different.

This light weight cardi, Mythos by Laura Nelkin, was simply perfect, only 100 grams for nearly 850 meters of fingering  yarn worked with US#8/5 mm needles.

I remember I cast on for it in August and imagined to wear it in the cool summer evening breeze, but you can never tell the future, so here it is, waiting with me for next spring.
I think I’ll wear it as modeled below, with a precious necklace made out of the very short leftover! 

Stavolta dò la precedenza all’inglese, negletto e trascurato da troppo tempo! La maglia è tornata sul blog? Spero di sì ma non prometto nulla, l’umore non è sempre quello giusto, la freschezza è difficile da trovare insieme a molte altre cose.. però oggi sono contenta. Ho finito!! Innanzitutto mi fa piacere aver usato una magnifica matassa di merino tinta a mano che Emma mi aveva regalato molto tempo fa. Farne uno scialle sembrava la scelta naturale ma alla fine ho osato provare con un cardigan piuma che speravo di indossare quest’estate nelle serate fresche.

E’ un modello laborioso e tecnico, bisogna un pò incaponirsi però eccolo finito e il filo mi è bastato anche per un gioiello originale!

100 grammi

No, almeno una novità qui c'è… finalmente si parla di un lavoro finito! A dire il vero era partito un mese fa con tutta un’altra forma, poi è stato sfilato e finalmente ha trovato la sua strada. E’ larga più o meno 50 cm, lunga suppergiù 150. Si tira, si allunga, si torce, si svolge come mi pare e piace. E’ trasparente ma fitta, caldissima intorno al collo o appena una velo sulle spalle. E’ nel mio colore preferito…ma purtroppo non è nata per me!

La ricetta:

• 100 grammi di alpaca baby
• ferri diritti e con belle punte n°5.5

Avviare morbidamente 60 maglie, lavorare tutti i ferri come segue: 1 dir, * 1 gett, 2 ins a rov*, 1 dir. Chiudere altrettanto morbidamente tutte le maglie lavorando a diritto. Avviluppatevi nella stola e godetevela!

Good news … a FO at last! It all started a month ago but I had another shape in my mind and it didn’t work. I ripped it and finally it went straight. It’s about 50 cm wide, more or less 150 cm in lenght. You can stretch it, wring it, wind it at your leisure. It’s both light and thick, hot around the neck and a feather on your shoulders. It’s in my favourite color … but unfortunately it’s not for me!

Recipe:

• 2 ply baby alpaca, 100 grams
• straight and sharp pointed needles n° 5.5 mm/ US#9

Loosely CO 60 sts. Work all rows as follows: k1, *yo, p2tog*, k1. Loosely BO all sts by knitting . Wrap yourself up and enjoy!

Il lieto fine c'è stato! Una lunga storia tormentata fatta di entusiasmi, frenate e lunghe pause di riflessione ha finalmente prodotto qualcosa. Quello che davvero mi soddisfa è non avere più un UFO (Un Finished Object) in casa!
E.T. è partito dimenticandosi kimono e sciarpa che ho prontamente messo in vetrina.

And a happy ending came! A restless story troubled by enthusiasm, brakings, and by long breaks yielded fruit at last. The thing that really matters is that I don't put up a UFO in my house any longer!
