SHORT ROWS TUTORIAL (ferri accorciati)

La tecnica delle short rows si impiega per lavorare più volte avanti e indietro su un numero limitato di maglie, dando a quella parte del lavoro una maggiore altezza rispetto al resto. Per impiegarla sulla maglia rasata, bisogna procedere con attenzione per non lasciare dei buchi antiestetici ogni volta che si gira il lavoro. In breve si deve avvolgere il filo intorno all’ultima maglia prima di girare il lavoro e quando si incontra una maglia “avvolta” bisogna riprendere il filo che le gira intorno e lavorarlo insieme alla maglia stessa.

This technique is used to insert extra rows invisibly in the middle of the knitting. The wrapping of end stitches avoids creating holes where you turn the work, but when you encounter a wrapped stitch you have to work it (knitwise or purlwise) together with its wrap as shown in the photos.

kwst (knit wrapped stitch)= lavorare a diritto la maglia avvolta

Foto 3: sul diritto del lavoro, con la punta del ferro destro prendere prima il filo avvolto intorno alla maglia e poi la maglia stessa, lavorarli insieme a diritto.

Foto 4: sul rovescio del lavoro, con la punta del ferro destro, puntando da dietro, prendere prima il filo avvolto intorno alla maglia e poi la maglia stessa, lavorarli insieme a rovescio.

w&t (wrap and turn)

kwst (knit wrapped stitch)

photo 3: on right side, work to just before wrapped stitch. Insert right needle from front, under the wrap from -bottom up, and then into wrapped stitch as usual. Knit them together, making sure new stitch comes out under wrap.

pwst (purl wrapped stitch)

photo 4: on wrong side, work to just before wrapped stitch. Insert right needle from back, under wrap from bottom up, and put on left needle. Purl them together.
