Nostepinde

Ho letto per la prima volta questa parola sul blog di Gabriella, che mi ha spiegato che Nostepinde deriva dallo scandinavo
noste=nest=nido + pinde=stick=stecco
ed indica quest'oggetto misterioso che sembrerebbe produrre (se usato da mani esperte) nidi di lana....andate qui o meglio qui se volete provarci anche voi!

I found this word for the first time on Gabriella's blog and she told me Nostepinde is a Scandinavian name for this mysterious tool that, if used by crafty hands, should produce "wool nests".... here or even better here if you wanna try it!

M'arcord

So che una cara amica di Rionero ora legge le mie cronache di maglia in cui ogni tanto ci scappa anche qualcos’altro... Non credo che mi riconosca completamente così come capita anche a me. Non trova di sicuro le mie radici ed il mio senso di appartenenza alla terra lucana, non trova immagini e pensieri che testimoniano il mio affetto ed i miei ricordi.
Non voglio che mi creda straniera e distaccata, la lontananza fisica ed emotiva mi serve solo da anestetico, voglio quindi mostrare i tramonti che mi incantavano, e le ultime foto fatte durante le mie tappe fugaci lungo la strada che ora mi porta a casa, a Torino.

Lucania
Io lo conosco
questo fruscio di canneti
sui declivi aridi
contesi dalla frana
e queste rocce magre
dove i venti e le nebbie
danno convegno ai silenzi
che gravano a sera
sul passo stanco dei muli.

E’ poca l’acqua che scorre
e le vallate sono secche
spaccate d’argilla.

Di qui le mandrie migrano
con l’autunno avanzato
per la piana delle marine
tuffando i passi nelle paludi.

Di qui è passata la malaria
per le stazioni sul Basento
squallide segnate d’oleandri.

Da noi la malvarosa è un fiore
che trema col basilico
in un vaso di terracotta
e il rosmarino cresce nei prati
sulle scarpate delle vie
accanto ai buchi delle talpe.

Da noi si riposa il falco e la civetta
segna la nostra morte.

Da noi il mondo è lontano
ma c’è un odore di terra e di gaggìa
e il pane ha il sapore del grano.

I know a dear friend of mine from Rionero is reading my knitting news that sometimes are jumbled up with something else... Surely she won’t recognize me entirely, as it happens to me too. She will not find here my roots and the feeling I belong to my native Lucania. She won’t find either pictures nor thoughts to bear witness for my love and my memories. But I don’t want her to believe I’m foreign and careless, my physical and emotional distance is a useful anaesthetic.
Now I’m showing those sunsets that used to put a spell on me, and my latest pictures, taken on my fleeting stops along the way that now leads me back home, back to Turin.

Lucania
I know well
this rustling of reeds
on the barren slopes
contested by the land slide
and these bleak rocks
where the winds and fogs
join the silence
which in the evening falls heavy
upon the tired pace of the donkeys.

Scant is the water that flows
and the cracked valleys of clay
are dry.

As the Autumn comes,
the herds migrate seaward
treading the swamplands.

Malaria swept through these sites
by the way of the dismal
oleander-lined stations
of the Basento.

In our land, the hollyhock is a flower
that trembels with basil
in a terra-cotta vase
and rosemary thrives in the fields
by the side of the roads
beside the tunnels dug by the moles.

In our land the hawk rests and the owl
calls our death.

The world is far from our land,
but here is a scent of earth and sweet acacia
and the bread bears the taste of wheat.

Il sondaggio sui lavori in corso non è stato proprio un plebiscito, ma ha rivelato come le/i maglisti più audaci siano una piccola minoranza...io ho votato per 1-2 lavori in corso ma in realtà in mente ne ho un po' di più; si fa quel che si può!
Da qualche giorno sono in Ravelry dove ho incontrato un'altra Knitaly (Francesca) e così mi sono spiegata la confusione che a volte è nata sui suoi bellissimi lavori che mi sono stati erroneamente attribuiti!
Per chi volesse cercare in Ravelry il mio username è "Cristiana".
A proposito...Ravelry è un enorme database che offre gratuitamente spazio per pubblicare in modo rigorosamente predefinito tutte le informazioni relative ai propri lavori a maglia e uncinetto, inoltre permette di ricercare facilmente tutte le informazioni possibili su modelli, filati, e utenti. Offre anche spazi per comunicare con messaggi, commenti, forums, e gruppi di discussione...bisogna però iscriversi per avere accesso a tutto!
E' una cosa molto utile ma dedicata e limitata a un solo argomento, e aggrega la gente intorno a questo! Il blog è meno rigido, aperto a tutti ed a tutto a seconda delle ispirazioni...tutti e due insieme sono anche un bell'impegno!

The poll about your WIPs wasn't actually a plebiscite, but it showed that the most daring knitters are a small minority, my vote was for 1-2 WIPs, even if in my mind they are a little more, I do what I can! I'm in Ravelry by a few days, and there I found another Knitaly (Francesca), so I finally understood the confusion about some wonderful knits of hers that were erroneously put down on me! If you want to search for me there, my username is "Cristiana".
BTW Ravelry is a big database that freely offers a place to publish in a strictly ordered way all the informations you can provide about any of your knitted or crocheted FOs or WIPs.Moreover it allowes you to browse easily to find out all the informations about any pattern, yarn, user you want. It gives you even the possibility to send messages, comments and to dialog with all the other users using discussion groups and forums.... but you have to sign in!
It's a very useful and interesting thing, but it's dedicated and restricted to this unique subject, and gathers people around it.
A blog is less rigid, open to everyone and to everything, according to your personal inspiration...to have both of them it's a demanding task!

La festa è qui!

Stasera abbiamo cenato tardi perchè al mio rientro non ho cucinato ma ho spacchettato con le bimbe il regalo della mia non più segreta amica Sabine!
Non ho avuto molto tempo per raccontarvi di queste settimane in cui ci siamo scambiate e-mail tra Torino e Berlino...ma in realtà volevo riservarmi completamente il piacere di fare la sua conoscenza, di scoprire affinità tra noi due, confrontare il nostro modo di vivere e di affrontare analoghe esperienze ed impegni.
Non immaginavo di trovare così tanto da condividere oltre alla passione per la maglia, mi ha colpito il suo modo di porsi attento e comprensivo e sono felice di aver trovato in lei la disponibilità e l’apertura per un sincero ed affettuoso confronto.
Dopo un pò di tempo, grazie ad un account traditore che mi aveva rivelato il suo nome, e avendo trovato diversi suoi modelli su Magknits, nel gioco si è perso il Secret ma si è rafforzato il Pal!
Liebe Sabine, qui a Torino si festeggia e si ride!
Non so da dove iniziare per raccontarvi del bel pacchetto pieno di tanti altri pacchettini e sorpresine ... ognuno incartato in modo diverso e con un commento particolare:

-un quaderno per i miei appunti di maglia;
-un sapone profumato ed un flacone di essenza alla lavanda per il mio benessere e relax;
-un’agenda 2008 della Freie Universitat di Berlino piccola e portatile come piace a me;
-ferri circolari per il pizzo Addi (rossi e oro sciccosissimi!);
-un CD con una raccolta di brani musicali irresistibili da tutto il mondo “Putamayo World Party” (per l’Italia Roy Paci in Ciuri-Ciuri (^_^), mi sa che dà un bel ritmo al lavoro a maglia (e anche alle noiosissime pulizie!);
-marcapunti “rossi” e leggerissimi;
-caramelle morbide gusto “zitrone, kirsch, apfelsine, himbeer” e “schokolade aus Amazonas-Edel-Kakao” ;-P
-tatuaggi rimovibili per i jeans delle monelle...
-le spiegazioni (Anleitung) per un poncho ai ferri (Gestrickter Poncho) per far pratica di tedesco e udite udite quelle per i calziiiiini (soooocken) tabellate per tutti i piedi del mondo!

E’ finita, direte voi! E invece il bello viene proprio ora...c’è il modello (questo in inglese per mia tranquillità) creato proprio da Sabine per una sciarpa vaporosa, e .... due “ballette” di lana merino rossa che userò per realizzarla con i ferri Addi nuovi nuovi.
E’ tardissimo ma sono tentata ora-subito-adesso di avviare il lavoro... invece devo ancora tradurre il post in inglese!

Party is here! This evening we delayed dinner because on my return home we (me with the girls) did upack our no more secret pal Sabine’s parcel!
I didn’t have much time to tell you about these weeks we exchanged e-mails between Turin and Berlin...in fact I was willing to keep the pleasure of meeting her, find out our affinities, compare our lifestyle and our way to deal with similar experiences and tasks, for myself only.
I didn’t expect to find out so much to share besides knitting, I was impressed by her careful and understanding attitude, and I’m glad I found her so accessible and open for a sincere and tender dialog.
After a while, thanks to a treacherous account that showed me her name and since I found her original patterns on Magknits, game lost the Secret” but the “Pal” became stronger! Liebe Sabine, in Turin we celebrate and laugh!
I don’t how where to begin to tell you about the beautiful parcel filled with many other little packets and surprises... each in a different paper and with a special comment:
-a notebook for my knitting notes;
-a perfumed soap and a small bottle of lavender essence for my well-being and relax;
-a pocket 2008 diary from Freie Universitat in Berlin, just my favourite size;
-Addi circular needles for lace knitting (red-gold very cool!);
-a CD collection of irresistible musical pieces from all over the worl “Putamayo World Party” (Italy represented by Roy Paci’s Ciuri-Ciuri (^_^), I think it speeds up both knitting and so boring housework!);
-“red” and feather light stitch markers;
-soft candies flavoured “zitrone, kirsch, apfelsine, himbeer” and “schokolade aus Amazonas-Edel-Kakao” ;-P
-removable jeans-tattoos for my scamps...
-instructions (Anleitung) for a knitted poncho(Gestrickter Poncho) to practice German, and listen-please instruction for soooocks (soooocken) scheduled to fit all feets in the world!

That’s all, you’d say! Never! Now comes the better part ... there's a pattern (in english for my own sake) made by Sabine herself to knit a fluffy scarf, and ...two “cakes” of merino yarn I’ll use to knit it with my brand new Addi needles.
It’s very late but I’m tempted to cast on now-in this minute-at once...but I still have to translate this post in english!
