MAGIC LOOP...OVVERO… IL CAPPIO MAGICO
Ecco passo passo il metodo Magic Loop utilizzato nel pattern
Sockini.
La tecnica utilizza i ferri circolari per lavorare in tondo su circonferenze molto piccole.
Il ferro circolare deve essere lungo almeno 80 cm.
Magic Loop is a trick used in the pattern Sockini to work in the
round on very small diameters.
Circular
needle must be at least 32 inches (80 cm) long.
STEP 1: Avviare sul ferro circolare le maglie desiderate e farle scorrere
portandole nella parte centrale del cavo.
On a circular needle, cast on the desidered number of stitches. Slide the stitches onto the cable part of the needle.
STEP 2: Schiacciate il cavetto facendo uscire un cappio proprio a
metà dei punti che avete avviato.Tirate il cavetto ed estraetelo facendo scorrere le maglie fino a
portarle sulle punte dei ferri.
Bend the cable dividing sts in half. Grasp the cable and pull it out of the stitches until you'll have half your stitches on one needle and half on the other needle.
STEP 3 : Ora siamo nella posizione di partenza. Metà punti sono su
un ferro, metà sull’altro, ed il filo del lavoro pende dal ferro posteriore.
Per poter unire il lavoro in tondo i ferri ed il filo
devono essere orientati in questo modo. Se invece il filo del lavoro pende dal
ferro anteriore si devono riportare i punti nella posizione dello step 1 e si
deve fare attenzione ad estrarre il cappio
tenendo le punte dei ferri orientate a destra.
This is the knitting starting position. Half of the stitches are on one needle, the other half on the second needle. Be sure that needle tips are pointing to the right and working yarn hangs off of the back needle, as shown in the picture, before joining the work in the round. Should your working yarn hang off the front needle start again from step1 to achieve the correct position shown in picture 3, keep the needle tips pointing to the right.
STEP 4: Controllate che i punti non siano arrotolati sul ferro.
Estraete il ferro posteriore facendolo scorrere verso destra mentre i punti
restano sul cavetto. Questo ferro va tenuto nella mano destra e va usato per
lavorare i punti che si trovano sul ferro tenuto dalla mano sinistra.
Make sure your stitches aren't twisted. Pull gently the back needle sliding the stitches to the cable part of the needle. The back needle now is free, and you can use is as your right-hand needle to work the stitches on the front needle, just as if you were using straight needles.
STEP 5 : Lavorate a diritto i punti che si trovano sul ferro sinistro.
Knit the stitches on your left hand needle.
STEP 6: Avete lavorato metà giro (nel ferro a destra ci sono le maglie lavorate, mentre a sinistra il ferro è vuoto).
You’ve knitted half a round (the right hand needle has the knitted stitches, while the left hand needle is empty).
STEP 7: Girare i ferri in modo che entrambe le punte siano
orientate a destra, e far scorrere all’indietro il ferro che ora si trova
davanti, sino ad inserirlo nei punti che sono sul cavetto. Vi siete ricondotti alla posizione di partenza. Tirare piano la punta posteriore mentre le maglie appena lavorate restano sul cavo. Lavorerete adesso la seconda parte del primo giro.
Turn your work so that needle tips are pointing to the right. Working yarn should be hanging off the back needle. Slide front needle backwards into the stitches that are on the cable. Your’re again in the knitting starting position.Pull gently the back needle, sliding the worked stitches to the cable part of the needle. Now you can knit the second half of the first round.
Step 8: Alla fine di questa seconda metà girate il lavoro, tirate
indietro il ferro che pende, estraete verso destra il ferro posteriore e
cominciate il giro successivo.
When you’re done with the second half turn your work, slide backwards the needle hanging off, pull out the back needle and start knitting the following round.
Per segnare l’inizio del giro potete usare una spilla, un
marcapunto oppure vi basterà osservare la posizione della codina iniziale del
lavoro, quando si trova a destra il giro è completo.
You can
use a marker to remember the beginning of the round or you can use the yarn
tail as a marker, when the tail is on the right your round is complete.
